Chrome Extensions

Google Chrome is one of the big three browsers: Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Chrome is my favorite of the three. Why?? Google Chrome extensions. Although IE and Firefox have add-ons or extensions as well, I’m a google fan and I haven’t used other extensions.  J

What are Chrome Extensions?

Chrome extensions are small software programs that can modify and enhance the functionality of the Chrome browser. You write them using web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. developer.chrome.com/extensions

Why should I use Chrome Extensions?

Look, you really don’t have to use chrome extensions. However, if you do use them they will change your life. Guaranteed! 

How do Chrome Extensions work?

Extensions have barely any user interface. For example, the below image shows a Google Mail Check extension that displays 3 new email in your Gmail inbox. You simply click on the icon and it links you to your Gmail.

What Chrome Extensions do I use?

Google has an OVERWHELMING amount of extensions. I advise you to simply search around and try them out. Browse the Chrome Web Store. Categories are broken down into extensions, themes, and apps. I could give a list of 20 + extensions, but here are 3 extensions I recommend for ALL Google Chrome users.

Windows 8

So… I jumped on the Windows 8 bandwagon and I must admit I’m not disappointed….yet. The biggest gripe I hear from Windows 8 users is the missing start menu, which I hear is returning in Windows 9 or sooner. Honestly, I don’t miss the start menu. Windows 8 does have a quasi start button that leads to a start window or “charm” screen. This screen serves as a landing page that displays installed apps, widgets, search box, and power options.

After a week of using Win 8 everyday I noticed several convenient features that makes Windows 8 better than I thought.

1. Seems that all windows shortcut or hot keys are still in place. I've been a heavy hot key user since XP and they have become second nature so transitioning those to 8 is a win for Microsoft.

5 Random "facts" you MAY not know about your iPhone

1. Have you ever notice that the clock icon your iPhone displays the correct time. In fact, you can see the hands move.

    2.  Your iPhone automatically tracks your location history, if enabled. Scary huh??!

From Settings >> Privacy >> Location Services >> scroll down to System Services >> tap Frequent Locations >> you will see a History section >> tap the city/state location you would like to view.
