So… I jumped on the Windows 8 bandwagon and I must admit I’m
not disappointed….yet. The biggest gripe I hear from Windows 8 users is the
missing start menu, which I hear is returning in Windows 9 or sooner. Honestly,
I don’t miss the start menu. Windows 8 does have a quasi start button that
leads to a start window or “charm” screen. This screen serves as a landing page
that displays installed apps, widgets, search box, and power options.
After a week of using Win 8 everyday I noticed several
convenient features that makes Windows 8 better than I thought.
- Seems that all windows shortcut or hot keys are still in place. I've been a heavy hot key user since XP and they have become second nature so transitioning those to 8 is a win for Microsoft.
